In the spring of 1996, after beta-testing several CD player models and CDRs for general operation and wear, ONHOLD became the first onhold service in the Pacific Northwest to provide ONHOLD on CD services -- music and messaging for the onhold feature of the business phone designed to run continuously from a CD player system. This terrific new premium service provides the highest quality sound recording and playback of any music and message source available and allows customers up to 74 minutes of program base -- a terrific alternative for businesses (airlines, tech support, travel packagers) who require a long program base because callers are onhold for longer than average times. |

Consumer Reports has been a great source for reference on effective, low-priced equipment, and while several RCA models are of equal quality, we generally provide a SONY D141 when asked to provide a player for our ONHOLD on CD service. This "Diskman" style player provides volume control, repeat button (for endless repetition), program "lock" key (to lock the repeat program, keeping others from tampering with your player) and stereo headphone jack (for connecting to your phone system). As mentioned in our equipment features page, a stereo to mono adapter, plugged in betyween the player output and audio cable leading to the phone system is required to mix the stereo output to the mono input of your MOH input jack. |

AESTHETIC Because ONHOLD on CD service provides a far greater program base then conventional analogue or digital player service, you have greater freedom to provide longer messages and a larger assortment of messages then can normally be fit into a standard 6 minute recording length. While ONHOLD on CD is the newest technology and provides unsurpassed sound quality, because it is a premium service, and client cost is predicated on the increased cost of materials, increased engineering costs and any costs associated with the length of program, we urge you to carefully consider what these unique benefits contribute to the "aural" image you require of your ONHOLD service. If longer program time (before repetition) or highest sound quality is paramount to your needs, then this is the best service for you. |
