In 1996 we began providing ONHOLD Overhead services - a "music and messages" technology to accommodate the needs of multiple exhibitor, food and event messaging in a trade show or festival event. This terrific new service can be used solely by the producer, to announce events, entertainment and special show features or the producer, in concert with ONHOLD, can sell advertising "slots" to exhibitors so they may notify attendees of their individual booth location, special seminar or activity. |

MUSIC
Our sister business, MUSICWoRKS, creates and maintains a library of original, adult contemporary jazz compositions for non-exclusive, direct-license to other companies. None of these titles are assigned to ASCAP, BMI or other licensing agency -- making all titles exempt from any other license or fee. As a result, this music, primarily in the Tom Grant, Kenny G, Bob James and Lee Ritenour style of contemporary music, is available for license to events. This style of music provides attendees with a sense of hip, involved awareness without being "sleepy" (ie: elevator music, MUZAK), intrusive or irritating. And, it is our experience that light contemporary jazz is universally accepted as a compromise to Rock, Blues and Country -- while providing the milieu with the esthetic sense of urban class and sophistication. |

EQUIPMENT
CASSETTE SYSTEM
When regular repetition of the musical program is acceptable, your ONHOLD Overhead system can be as simple as an auto-reverse cassette player, running a C-120 hi-bias, chrome tape. This option simplifies equipment purchase and movement issues, while providing 2 hours of continuous programming -- filled with music, and music under during program messages.
CD/CASSETTE SYSTEM
For events that require a longer, non-repeating, music program base, ONHOLD Overhead can provide equipment or a material list for your own local purchase of equipment. In longer playing systems, a multiple-CD, player-changer provides the music while an auto-reverse cassette player provides up to a 2 hour message base. An auto-ducking, Compressor-Expander, provides automated mixing -- correcting music volume between messages.
No matter which ONHOLD Overhead system you choose, the audio output is connected to the overhead PA system provided by the convention center or your local sound company. ONHOLD can work with the PA technicians to provide assistance in balancing sound and necessary audio connections. |

ESTHETIC
To determine the number of messages a C-120 cassette would contain -- at 60 minutes a side -- you will want to decide what is the best cycle from message to message. Attendees won't know a two-minute cycle from a four-minute cycle and messages may be as long as 60 seconds in length. For example, you may choose to have a message slotted as often as every three minutes (20 messages a side) or as infrequent as every six minutes (10 messages a side).
ONHOLD Overhead can provide a new tape daily for the changing needs of show management messages. Daily event messages are mixed with contracted exhibitor messages to complete a daily program tape. It is important to remember that each message slot runs once every two hours. If you are considering the sale of message slots to exhibitors, it will be important to consider whether you want to sell each slot individually or sell multiple slots to exhibitors. It may be that some exhibitors would like messages to occur more often then once every two hours and will pay a "premium" for multiple slots. |

MARKETING
At an added premium, ONHOLD can direct telemarket the exhibitor message slots. We have found, however, that most producers prefer to control this service "in-house" with ONHOLD acting as a sub-contractor. ONHOLD can also make marketing slicks, service contracts and service order materials available for your Exhibitor packet. Or, if you prefer, given each Exhibitor's name, voice and fax numbers -- we'll send materials by fax. ONHOLD Overhead services are flexible and we can generally accommodate any marketing and service approach that is right for you. |

SERVICES
Our service includes working with you and your exhibitors via phone and fax to create each (up to 60-second) message. Like our ONHOLD services, Exhibitors sign and fax their approval of the final script for recording, as well as choosing either a male or female voice talent. As in radio production, we can also make customized music or sound effects available, creating a radio-style ad instead of a simple voice message, or drop the exhibitor's own pre-produced radio advertising to the C-120, for an additional fee. We'll also work with you, the show/festival manager or producer to develop the show messages required by you -- events, entertainment schedule, etc. All messages are combined and mixed to cassette tape, with or without background music, depending on your equipment selection. |
