The on-hold feature of a business phone is a specific built-in component of the KSU or PBX equipment-switch found in your phone room. Most multi-line phone systems, serving a minimum of 4 incoming lines and 8 phone stations, either have the MOH feature present or it can be added with the appropriate plug-in card.  If you are uncertain whether your phone system has the MOH feature, refer to your owner manual or call and speak with your local phone equipment provider.

MOH Audio players

EXISTING PLAYERS
Providing on-hold services for almost 20 years, you can count on us to deliver your recording on just about any media you require, in any audio file format, sample or bit rate required to work with your existing player (like those mentioned to the left).

NEW PLAYERS
If you do not yet have an on-hold player, and do not require a digital on-hold player (see our FAQ page), we currently recommend these two cost-effective player alternatives:

ONHOLD on CD™
Features
The vast majority of our clients select our ONHOLD on CD™ product and obtain a portable CD player from a local home electronics retailer in their area.  After many years of CD service, we urge clients to refrain from buying low-end players (as they are prone to losing their repeat program memory) and recommend a medium-priced Sony or Panasonic product - in the $45-$65 range.

Benefits
Low priced. Easy to acquire and replace.  Superb sound.  Will wear out and fail over 2 to 3 years continuous use. Will not auto-restart upon power flux or outage.

You will need
Personal CD Player with endless repeat mode, AC power adapter (to keep the player running), stereo to mono 1/8th inch adapter (to reduce the stereo output of the headphone jack to mono) and mono audio cable to connect the player to the your PBX, KSU or punch down block (see our Installation guide for details.)

NOTE: Verify the audio connection type to the PBX or KSU and be certain your audio cable has the appropriate connection (1/8 mini into the player and RCA, 1/8 mini or bare wire to the phone system connection.)

Where to Buy
Target, Best Buy, Radio Shack, the Internet and more.

ONHOLD on MP3™
Features
The newest technology at an affordable price, most new clients and existing clients needing a replacement player are opting to purchase a low-priced USB MP3 player from a local home electronics dealer in their area. We recommend USB stick MP3 players for the convenience of copying the MP3 audio file from your computer to the player, using a common USB 2.0 port.  Any MP3 player with at least 512 MB of memory and with a NiMH or Li-ion rechargeable battery will do.  To keep the battery charged and the player operating continuously, a USB AC adapter is also required.

Benefits
Lowest priced player type available. Easy to acquire and replace. Superb sound. No moving parts to wear out.  Depending on manufacturer specs, the rechargeable battery will need replacement after 1 to 2 years continuous operation.  Will not auto-restart upon power flux or outage.

You will need
USB MP3 Player with endless repeat mode, USB AC power adapter (to keep the player running), stereo to mono 1/8th inch adapter (to reduce the stereo output of the headphone jack to mono) and mono audio cable to connect the player to the your PBX, KSU or punch down block (see our Installation guide for details.)

NOTE: Verify the audio connection type to the PBX or KSU and be certain your audio cable has the appropriate connection (1/8 mini into the player and RCA, 1/8 mini or bare wire to the phone system connection.)

Where to Buy
Target, Best Buy, Walgreens, Radio Shack, the Internet and more.

MOH Adapters

Though rare these days, occasionally we find clients have purchased their telephone system without specifically requesting the MOH feature.  If you find this is the case, your phone equipment dealer can sell and install this feature as an after-market product.

Businesses that do not have a KSU or PBX system, but operate personal phones serving one to four incoming lines will not have this MOH component.  These smaller phone systems are not designed to offer the MOH feature.  As a result, if you desire to have an on-hold program playing while your callers are placed on hold (whether by a hold button, the star or pound key)  - you can only do this with the appropriate adapter.

Here at ONHOLD, we offer a complete range of Skutch adapters - designed and built to work with a tremendous assortment of phone brands and models. Models and prices vary frequently.  To learn more and get a current price quote on an adapter that works with your phones, write or call us.
